IR transmission of optical grade CVD diamond films reach values close to the theoretical limit of 71% at wavelengths beyond 220nm. As a result, CVD diamond windows are an excellent choice for many applications including components in synchrotron beam lines.

When hot, corrosive and abrasive environments make standard crystals unacceptable, CVD diamond windows have a long useful life. CVD diamond's high thermal conductivity minimizes distortion of windows in high power applications such as CO2 laser output windows.
